![]() But there are still too many challenge matches in that one too. The female MyRise, on the other hand, is much better and only had a handful of dud storylines. What a cheap way to encourage replay-ability. There is one story on Raw that unlocks 2 mutually exclusive stories when you complete it, depending on the path you take, so I had to use another save file to see everything. The thing I hate the most is that you can't 100% one save file. There are also too many challenge matches, which are just generic 1 on 1s. Playing as a heel is much more fun, but thankfully you can switch alignments at will. I can count on one hand how many enjoyable storylines there were. After 8 months of waiting for patches, I finished the entire mode, and the more I played it, the less I liked it. But this is a AAA game and AAA games always come out broken these days, so naturally my save became corrupted after 2 hours. When this game came out, I also played a little bit of the male MyRise, and I was enjoying it. MyGM feels more like a prototype of a GM mode than an actual GM mode. Simulating the matches also feels completely random: I booked John Cena vs Drew McIntyre for the SD title, but they put on a worse match than TBAR and some jobber from NXT. Plus, there are 4 brands here (Raw, SD, NXT, NXT UK), but you can only compete against one other GM/brand, which is also lame. You can only have 3 matches per weekly show and 4 matches per PPV. I'm not big on GM modes, but I did play SvR 06's a lot when I was younger, and I found MyGM to be even more basic than 06's. It's kind of like how it was in the late PS1/early PS2 era, but this game came out in 2022. ![]() You can still set your music and tron, but now you can only choose one animation template you can't customize animations for each segment of the arena (stage, ramp, ring) or change lighting and pyro. I was going to say that this is the best character creation 2K has ever had, at least until I realized that they completely removed the advanced entrance creator. Thank goodness they got rid of that stupid shit where moves and attires were locked behind that nonsense. However, one great thing is that there aren't any lootboxes anymore. The character creation is mostly the same as before. ![]() Also, each match has background music that plays during it instead of commentary, but the music is always basic and stock-sounding, which also ruined my immersion. For example, in a match with Dolph Ziggler, Rey hits a moonsault and he talks like it was a major high spot that should have ended the match, even though the match just started a few minutes ago. This is cool at first, until Rey starts narrating the action, which killed my immersion at times. You complete objectives like doing combos or diving moves, which sometimes lead you into a cutscene that transitions into real life footage from the match. ![]() Each match doesn't even feel like a match it's more like one long QTE. It covers Rey Mysterio's career, one of the greatest of all time, but there are only 12 matches and some of them aren't even iconic. The 2K Showcase has got to be one of the worst they've ever made. And speaking of glitches, some of the new button mashing minigames straight up didn't work so I had to change the control scheme to holding down buttons, which isn't always efficient, especially when you get caught in a grab. Another problem was that there are still wonky/glitchy animations. For one thing, there are still a few controls that don't seem efficient/ideal, like having to press 2 buttons to do springboard attacks, when it was always 1 button before. However, I still had some problems with the gameplay. The new systems in place are mostly good here. The older 2K games were built with the reversal limit system in mind, so even when you turned it off, the AI would debuff you nonstop, which was infuriating, so I'm glad they did away with the whole system. Plus, that awful and easily cheese-able reversal limit system has finally been removed. The new fighting game based combat system is mostly enjoyable, as the action is faster and more "arcade-y," which I definitely prefer, as I hated the snail-paced simulation-based style of the previous games. The gameplay is easily the best part of 2K22. 50% PCWhile this game is miles better than the abomination that was 2K20, it's still not that good of a wrestling game.
